The Areti Trust is funding a visit for a class from St Patrick’s to take part in a “Food for Thought” session at Leighton Hall this term. It appears that more and more pupils are being encouraged to look at where food comes from and to learn the basics of how to grow some of it – hopefully laying a foundation for knowledge of the subject that will never leave them.

• £23,280 to Where the Wildings Are, to support school grounds for food growing and biodiversity.
• £2,453 to Outward Bound to support a dozen children in outdoor activities.
• Funding for a class from St Luke’s Primary School to visit Lakeland Wildlife Oasis.

The Areti Trust has made a grant of £2,920 to CEEP for outdoor summer activities at Kepplewray Centre.

• £2,400 to Lancashire Association of Boys and Girls Club for summer outdoor activities.
• £10,040 to Lancashire Youth Challenge for their summer challenge expedition in the Lake District.
• £16,120 to Larksfoot CIC for free forest school holiday places for FSM children.
• £15,330 to Morecambe Bay Partnership for primary school pupils to explore the landscape around Cockerham.

Plus ongoing funding for primary school pupils to visit RSPB Leighton Moss.

Areti recently awarded a grant of £15,000 to Escape2Make for activities in 2023:

• Bicycle Club (repairs and creative trips)
• Foraging, Wild Cooking, Natural Product Making Club
• Contribution towards the Duke of Edinburgh awards
• Away Day at RSPB

The Areti Trust has awarded £5,000 to Morecambe Road School towards the cost of taking pupils on residential expeditions to the Lake District.

The Areti Trust has also agreed the following grants:

• £12,206 for children from less well-off families to attend the Forest School Holiday Club organised by Larksfoot CIC
• £25,925 to Arnside & Silverdale AONB for “Into The Woods” – a full-year programme for pupils from Chadwick School PRU.
